Full experience details

Your Incense-Making Journey

  1. Learn the Formula

Master the sacred Scent Pyramid behind every beautiful, long-lasting incense scent.

    • SELECT THE AROMATIC HEART: select the exquisite aromatic heart note that forms the emotional core and character of your personal incense.
    • SELECT THE WOOD FOUNDATION: choose your sacred wood base, the grounding elemental foundation and soul of your custom-crafted incense stick.
    • SELECT YOUR SACRED RESIN: learn how these powerful tears of the earth act as the high-vibrational finish to your incense.
  2. Learn The Smoke Test

You cannot make incense without performing the burn test because powders smell completely different when burned.

  3. Incense and Balinese Culture

The Balinese did not invent incense, but you will learn firsthand how incense shaped their culture through offerings and ceremonies.

  4. Learn the Global History

Explore the fascinating global heritage of incense, tracing its sacred roots across cultures around the world.

  5. Learn the Palm-Roll

Master the palm-rolling technique. We guide you through both the beginner and professional methods of hand-forming your sticks.

  6. Hands-on Incense Making

Experience tactile blending by mixing raw ingredients by hand: no tools required, just touch and focused intention.

    • CREATE INCENSE ART: sculpt artisan incense textures by decorating your sticks with custom lines and swirls, a Sacred Smoke original technique.
    • COAT THE STICKS: perform the aromatic dusting process, coating your sticks in fine botanical powder for an immediate boost of fragrance.
    • CREATE INCENSE CONES: expand your skills by learning to shape incense cones, a concentrated form of aromatic release.
  7. Paint an Incense Burner

This optional step costs an additional Rp 45.000 and lets you paint a burner to pair with your incense.

  8. Take Home

Your journey does not end when the workshop finishes. You will leave our studio with:

    • Your handmade sticks, freshly rolled and coated, with 1+ hour burn time.
    • A bonus DIY kit with enough premium powders and binder to make your next batch at home.
    • A physical instructions card for the free kit.
Free take-home incense kit with handmade sticks and instructions
