Incense Kit Instructions

Your Journey from Raw Botanical to Sacred Smoke Starts Here

A Note from Gi: Welcome to your home studio. This kit contains the precise "Golden Ratio" of botanical powders and natural binders to create approximately 20-25 premium incense sticks.

Each hand-rolled creation will offer a slow, intentional burn of 30-40 minutes.

Prepare your space, clear your mind, and let's begin the alchemy.

Make Your Incense

Step 1: Prepare Your Temple (Gathering the Tools)

Before you begin, ensure your environment is calm and your tools are ready. You will need:

A Mixing Bowl: Ceramic, glass, or wood works best.

35ml of Liquid: Use distilled water, or elevate your ritual by using cooled herbal tea or rose-infused water.

A Wooden Surface: A clean wooden board or table provides the perfect "grip" for hand-rolling.

Your Sacred Smoke Kit: Open your components and lay them out with intention.

Step 2: The Alchemy of the Dough (Mixing & Activating)

This is the most critical stage. You are bringing the "Body" (wood) and "Spirit" (aromatics) together.

The Master Blend: Pour the entire contents of the glass tube into your bowl.

The Dry Mix: Using your fingers or a spoon, whisk the powders together for at least 2 minutes. Every grain of aromatic powder must be coated in the Makko (binder) to ensure an even burn.

The Hydration: Add exactly 35ml of liquid.

Note: It may look dry at first. Trust the formula. Do not add more water. The heat from your palms will slowly activate the Makko powder, turning the dust into a clay-like dough.

The Pull & Fold: This is the "Alchemist's Knead." Pull the dough apart until it stretches and snaps, then fold it back into itself.

Pro Tip: Do not massage or "rub" the dough like bread; this introduces too much air and dries it out. Pull and fold for 3-5 minutes until it feels like smooth potter's clay.

Infusing Intention: Create a small well in the center of your dough. Pour in the provided vial of Essential Oil.

Warning: Do not exceed the provided amount. Too much oil will break the molecular bond of the dough and make rolling impossible.

The Final Bond: Pull and fold for one more minute to lock the scent into the fibers of the wood.

Step 3: The Geometry of Smoke (Rolling Your Sticks)

Now, we give the incense its physical form.

The Portion: Pinch off a piece of dough roughly the size of a small pebble or a large marble.

The "Worm": On your wooden surface, roll the dough into a long, thin "worm" shape, about half the length of the bamboo core.

The Core: Place your bamboo stick directly in the center of the dough. Pinch the dough firmly around the stick so it is completely "anchored."

The Palm Roll 🙌🏼: Place the stick between your palms. Cross your thumbs over each other to stabilize your hands.

The Pressure: Apply firm, even pressure and move your hands up and down in a rhythmic motion. As you roll, the dough will extend and coat the entire length of the stick.

Defining the Handle: Using your fingers, remove about "three fingers" worth of dough from one end to expose the bamboo handle.

The Trim: Pinch off any excess dough from the tip.

The Finish: Use one hand to lightly roll the stick against your wooden surface for a final smoothing of the texture.

Step 4: The Patient Wait (Drying)

Stand your sticks, this will make all sides dry equally.

If you dry them flat, you will need to rotate them every 2 hours.

Crucial: Let them dry for at least 48 to 72 hours. If you burn them too early, the moisture trapped inside will cause the stick to go out.

Do not: Place the sticks to dry in the sun or in front of a fan. Doing so will cause them to crack since the outside will dry first.

Kit fixes

Troubleshooting

"I see cracks in my dough..."

The Cause: Light hands. The Fix: Cracks happen when air is trapped between the dough and the stick. Apply significantly more pressure while rolling. Don't be afraid—the bamboo core is flexible and won't break easily!

"The mixture won't stick to the bamboo..."

The Cause: Lack of initial "anchor" or pressure. The Fix: When you first put the dough on the stick, pinch it hard. Think of it as "gluing" it with pressure. Ensure your hands are warm; if they are very cold, the Makko won't activate. Rub your hands together to create heat before rolling.

"My incense keeps going out..."

The Cause: It's still "alive" (wet). The Fix: Even if the outside feels dry, the core may still be damp. Give it an extra 24 hours in a well-ventilated area.
